Current Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi has left for his 3-day tour today. He will visit Portugal, the US and Netherlands during this time period. On June 26, Modi will meet US President Donald Trump for a working dinner, and this will be the time he will become the first world leader to have dinner at White House with President Donald Trump.
Narendra Modi left for Portugal, the first leg of his 3-day 3-nations tour in the morning today. Prime Minister Modi will also be visiting the US on June 25 and 26, and the Netherlands on June 27. In his statement to media, the Prime Minister said,
“My USA visit is aimed at deepening ties between our nations. Strong India-USA ties benefit our nations & the world. My visit to Netherlands seeks to boost bilateral ties and deepen economic cooperation.”
Modi will be meeting President Donald Trump for the first time via this tour on June 26 in Washington. A senior administrative official said,
“The White House is very interested in making this a special visit. We’re really seeking to roll out the red carpet. In fact, the two (leaders) will have dinner, a working dinner at the White House. This will be the first dinner for a foreign dignitary at the White House under this administration. So, we think that’s very significant.”
Apart from official meetings with Trump and his cabinet colleagues, Modi will also be meeting some prominent American CEOs.
