Dog Agility Training is considered to be one of the fastest growing sports today. It is a combination of advanced off-leash obedience and obstacle familiarization.
Training your dog to run an agility course is not easy; it is going to require determination and patience from both you and the dog trainer. There are going to be days when your dog will perform beyond your expectations and then there are going to be days when your dog just won’t move a muscle. Dog Agility Training is an extremely active sport that does place stress on the dog while he is training and you must be aware of this aspect for the dog. It is possible that your dog will not be able to handle diving into a tunnel, making a 180-degree turn or a triple jump.
Only a few voice and body signals are permitted in agility training, and therefore, dog agility training is one of the most difficult types of training that one can engage in. Agility training is the ultimate game for you and your dog. It’s also one of the most exciting canine sports for spectators. This kind of training is a fantastic way for you and your dog to spend some quality time together while participating in a fun, action packed sporting activity. Agility training will test and strengthen your dog’s physical abilities, sense of balance, patience, control, and most of all the ability that you and your dog have to work well together as a team.
The team sport combines a relay race over jumps with a game of fetch. If your dog loves ball games this will be fun for both of you. Hence, the more confident you become as a trainer, the more confidence you instill in your dog to run, jump, and fly. Agility training your dog for the tube, like all aspects of dog agility training, should be loads of fun. Excitement, exercise and fun are what agility training and competitions are really all about. It’s more fun than a barrel of puppies!
Training your dog to perform the obstacles in the correct order and within a prescribed time takes a lot of hard work. It requires a lot of patience from the handler and it can take years to perfect the sport. Size determines which height category your particular dog will be placed in, but this does not indicate level of performance.
