Share Load with Mom: One Step Further

So I started helping my mom with doing laundry after that I decided to take a step further to dry them up, pick them up and put in cupboard.

Usually what my mom does is, pick up the dried Clothes from outside, iron them and stack them properly. But in my case, I was just picking up the dry clothes and just stuffing them in the cupboard. No Iron. No Order. Just like that, Where ever I find the place. As the result, my usual day start by going through my closet looking for something to wear.

Last weekend, I planned for a massive clean up. It was a big challenge for me as I have lots and lots of clothes.

First, I took out all the clothes from my cupboard. Filtered them with what I can wear and what I can donate. To my surprise, the amount of clothes that I can donate was greater than what I am left with to wear. There were some clothes still with the tags on and I am sure they will never fit me. This taught me a lesson which I will share in the end.

For the clothes which I can wear, I sorted them again in below categories:

a) Daily wear/Office Going

b) Party Wear

c) Night Wear

Then came the turn on how to stack them. Called my mom, she gave me some tips and I was all set. It took me a hell lot of time as I had to iron all my clothes and stack them properly. On the plus side, while cleaning, I found some money and my lost hard disk.

It took me around 5 hours to get all the things done.

5 things that I learned from this initiative by Blogadda and Ariel.

1. Don’t buy something for just one occasion – Instead of purchasing something specific for certain events, try to have a few dressier pieces in your wardrobe that are more versatile.

2. Don’t buy or keep something that doesn’t fit – Be realistic and honest with yourself. If it doesn’t fit you, donate it to charity.

3. Don’t buy something just because it’s a bargain – Never buy something just because it’s a great deal. No matter how affordable it was, if you never wear it, it’s a complete waste of money.

4. Make some tough decisions – Nobody likes throwing things away. There’s no need to hold on to everything you’ve ever loved, especially if it’s something you haven’t worn for decades.

5. Invest in what you already own – Invest in the pieces that you already have in your wardrobe

I pledge to #ShareTheLoad in household chores in association with Ariel and BlogAdda
