Mike Alvarado vs Ruslan Provodnikov Fight

Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO’s) will defend his WBO light welterweight title against Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO’s) at the FirstBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, on October 19th in a scheduled 12 round bout. Alvarado, 33, takes a record of 34-1, including 23 KOs, into the upcoming bout against Provodnikov. His only loss came in his first meeting with Rios in October 2012.

Provodnikov, 29, the WBO's No. 1 ranked contender, has assembled a record of 22-2 with 15 KOs over his six-year pro career. He's returning to his natural weight class against Alvarado after moving up to the welterweight division in March for a title shot against WBO champion Timothy Bradley Jr., who beat the Russian in a 12-round unanimous decision.
The Russian boxer thanked Alvarado profusely but also acknowledged he didn't know who Manning was. He said he knew as much about American football as he knew about Russian soccer, which he acknowledged with a smile was next to nothing. He said he prefers to watch swimming and triathlons in his down time.
Still, he said he planned to have his father take care of the jersey, said it would have an honored place in his home and appreciated the gift as a token of good will, a feeling he reciprocated.
