We’re all aware that Nigerians and Ghanaians have this healthy competition/beef where we throw light jabs at each other and everyone has a laugh. Then there’s the case of people with Ghana jollof brain spewing crap on social media and having twitter fingers, just in case you didn’t get it, that was a shade at the up and coming Ghanian act ‘Shatta Wale’ who came for our boy Wizkid.
Shatta in an interview with Kasapa FM says he doesn’t see anything extraordinary about Wizkid. Well, Shatta, since we need to spell it out for you, here are 5 reasons why you should be calling Wizkid ‘Uncle Wizzy’ and why you should keep his name out of your mouth.
1. NUMBERS DON’T LIE:
While Ghana has a population of 28 million and Nigeria has 180 million, if you’re an artist (or investor, or someone looking to make money, or someone who wants to be great) where would you rather be a superstar? Obviously Nigeria. Our upcoming B list artists here are on the same level with your A-list stars because they have more fans than y’all because of the numbers.
2. SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS:
While Shatta Wale has measly 567K followers on his Instagram, Wizkid has a whopping 4.2M number of followers. Again, numbers don’t lie. Mayourkun that started barely 2 years ago has 791k followers on Instagram, and he ain’t even an A-list in Nigeria, and Shatta Wale is one of the best Ghana has to offer.
3. YOUTUBE VIEWS:
I’m not even going to say much on this, the view on Wizkids Come closer is higher than the views, downloads, and streams of ALL THE SONGS AND VIDEOS you’ve ever dropped in your career. #Dasall
4. INTERNATIONAL FEATURES:
Which A-list American artist isn’t Wizkid friends with. Wizkid has done collaborations with Drake, Wale, Tinie Tempah, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Justin Skye just to mention a few and all the tracks were a hit back to back. In short, Shatta Wale is not worthy enough to walk on the ground Skales has walked. Small Doctor isn’t his mate.
5. THEN THERE ARE THE GHANIANS WIZKID HAS HELPED TO BLOW:
Daddy Yo was a hit worldwide and guess who became famous through that video, Efya. Maybe she was your Tiwa Savage in Ghana but outside Ghana nobody knew her and thanks to Wizkid she can boast of being international. Then there was R2bees who had a dying career and Wizkid the magician brought their career back to life with tracks like ‘Slow down’ and ‘Tonight’. We agree Stone boy was a star in Ghana but outside Ghana only a few knew him and Wizkid put him on the map. Finally, there’s also Shatta Wale who no one knew and cared about but because he slandered Wizkid he’s now infamous all over Nigeria and people now know him, so technically, Wizkid has helped Shatta Wale’s career.
