The End of the War – Nanowrimo/Announcements

Nanowrimo and I waged a deadly battle. Within the first week, I was optimistic, as I had more words than he had required for my deadly challenge. But as time went on his forces began to beat me back (it didn’t help I had entire weekends where I wasn’t allowed to come near the computer because of plays, driving up to the plays, and seeing family). I kept up a brave face and soon my castle began to run out of parchment as I recorded my words on it, counting each word carefully.

I eventually gave up, bruised and bloody on November 25, he had bested me. I survived, but I had not won. I must brace myself to battle him again next year.

So, aside from the small bit of roleplay, that’s almost exactly how it happened.

My total at the end of the month was 25,767. Not too bad, but I wish I could have made it.

So with the end of Nano, I have time to do things, like writing more than one project at a time. But it also means 2 more things.

1. The blog can continue as normal.

2. It’s December, big things going on in December.

So on the fifteenth of December, I am leaving.

I’M GOING TO England PEOPLE!

I’M SO STINKING EXCITED!

So we’re driving to DC, then catching a flight to England with a stopover in Iceland. Our end destination is Oxford.

What I know of Oxford is that it has: Oxford University, three cathedrals (most recognized is Christ Church), the Ashmolean Museum, and Oxford castle where portions of Harry Potter was filmed (no we’re not going to exhibit of HP stuff). My favorite destination spot is the Kilns, C.S. Lewis’s house.

One of the best things about England is that everything is basically a day trip.

But there’s something key:

I can’t blog. I’m allowed to take my computer to England (thank you TSA), BUT, my family is like no. You bring that computer you’ll be writing all day instead of being with us and doing things. (To which I scoff at them, I have dreamed of England since I heard the Lion the witch and the wardrobe for the first time) So I can’t write.

So, if you want to keep abreast of the trip, you can go follow my Instagram which will be teeming with pictures from England, most likely with a short summary of the day. There will definitely be more in the blog posts when I come back to US soil on December 28.

So with that announcement out of the way, I have some more.

I have had all of the short stories edited (from Camp nano), and I now need to assemble them into ebook form.

My partners in crime story has been written and preliminary edited by like three people. I need one more then I’ll post the stories.

This means I can work on Ante Bellum which I hope to kick up in the new year. I actually think I got something out of the crazy prompts ya’ll gave me. Once I post the first three of Ante Bellum, I’ll make another post where you help me come up with stuff for another story.

That’s all for now, I hope you succeeded in Nanowrimo.
