Facebook messenger adds a data saver feature

It has been a long time since Facebook Messenger has been released as a 'properly-built' and as a 'well-furnished' application which is available for every platform, from Android to iOS or Windows phones even. The app comes with lot of features required for enhancing user experience and satisfaction.

But every feature doesn't come in easy, working on less data in Messenger. As far as texting is concerned, the messenger app won't let you down in that and you can send or receive texts easily, even on a slow internet connection. But the same messenger could disappoint you when you try to send pictures or small gifs, videos, recording or media in any sort. When you have a slower internet connection, the app lacks swiftness and can't let you send your favorite things faster.

For solving the problems of messenger, all a user would like to get is a 'Data Saving Mode'. That is exactly what Facebook is testing now to release in the next update of messenger.

The Beta testers and users of this app are already trying out this new feature in messenger and are getting a new option in the settings of the application, allowing them to turn on the data savings for the app. Till now, this feature is only available for Android phones only. However after complete testing, iOS users may it on their phones too.

Features of 'Data Saver'

  • This feature only works on messengers made for Android (yet).
  • It will manually allow you to download images and videos sent by others to you.
  • When you're connected to Wi-Fi, media will be downloaded automatically.

How will this feature benefit me?

As we already told you that this feature will be great for slower internet connections. You can prevent downloading unnecessary pictures or videos which means you manually can download the media that you like.
Moreover, when you're on Wi-Fi, images and videos will get downloaded automatically without troubling the user to search for images manually and download them one by one. The app also shows the amount of data saved by enabling this feature.

How to get this application?

You can wait till Facebook officially launches this application on Google Play Store. The app is still under testing and is expected to release soon.

Well we know you want to try this application. So we are providing you with beta programmes of the app. The beta application is available via APK Mirror or if you want to try from Play Store, you can download it it here as a beta tester.

Is running a beta program safe for my mobile?

Of course, you can run any beta app or test it freely. There's no problem! However you can download the normal updates of the app too that everybody gets.

Go on and try the application. Let us know how your reviews and comments.
