MIUI 9 leaks- Based on Android Nougat

Xiaomi phones are known for their performance, their efficient performance, latest features, low cost and precisely, their unique UI. The UI's of Xiaomi come in a unique blend of colors, features and some extra functions that can't be found in the Android version itself. The UI provided by Xiaomi is called as Miui and we recently had the updates to MIUI 8 from Xiaomi company to almost every phone manufactured by the company which either was based on Android Marshmallow, Android Lollipop or Android KitKat (as per the specifications of the device).

Now the MIUI 8 that the company recently released over the air was loved by everybody. It had every latest feature with a unique and custom blend of colors including some additional features like the rolling screenshots, Mi Space, Dual Apps and many other additional tweaks including the weather and notification bar changing previews. MIUI 8 may be loved by everybody but still many users feel that their devices are lagging behind and need a higher version of Android than they originally have.

For this, the company even though didn't promise anything but many felt that MIUI9 would be released for them. But the question is 'When?' Probably the wait is over and rumors may end up soon. We found the Miui 9 in a leaked screenshot over the internet recently. Let's show you what we have our hands on.

Soon after Google has started to release updates for the Android Nougat, every company became busy in introducing updates to their phones. Xiaomi did too, it seems! The element of surprise is that the MIUI 9 is said to be running on Android Nougat recently released by Google. The screenshot of the UI version was leaked over Weibo and it suggested running on Android Nougat.

From the image above, nothing gets much clear about the update but you can see a number- 6.9.23 which means that it runs on MIUI 9. A post by Tech Updates was recently launched on MIUI forums where it gives a list of devices which will be getting this update.

The devices in the following list will get the update:

  • Redmi Note 3/Note 4
  • Redmi 2 Prime
  • Redmi 3
  • Redmi 3S
  • Redmi 3A
  • Mi 4s
  • Mi 4c
  • Mi 4i

Apart from this list, the devices for this year will get the update too like:

  • Mi Max
  • Mi Max Prime
  • Mi Note (Pro)
  • Mi Pad 2

The devices like Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus aren't mentioned but it is just an unofficial list and probably more devices will be added for receiving the updates.

What to expect in the MIUI 9?

Now as we told that this update is scheduled to be running over the Android Nougat which is highly stable and provides many new features over the Android Marshmallow or other versions of Android. You'll be getting a new feature for Multi-Window where you can run and view two apps side by side.  Another feature is that you can respond to texts from various apps via the notification bar only, without bothering to open the app.

Xiaomi certainly has provided with UIs which are far more than just loved by every user. Each time an update releases, their is something new and exciting to try. In Miui 7, Xiaomi gave us the Quick ball feature as well as Mi Mover. In Miui 8, it gave Dual Apps and Mi Space. The same is expected to be released in MIUI 9 including various other features.

When will the update release?

We haven't heard of any confirmation but the update is expected to hit the ending months of this year, November-December. We will notify you accordingly about the release date by the company.

It would have been nice if we had more information in this leak along with more screenshots but there's still some time in the introduction of this MIUI version. We'll update you soon with the total new customizations of Miui 9. Stay tuned!
