The Jungle Book already had set its benchmark as the best movie ever by Disney. Reimagining it and bringing on the big screen in a manner better than before is a tough task. Audience have their expectations and perhaps this jungle book has fulfilled them.
Walt Disney worked on a few movies and Jungle Book released in 1967 was one of his last movies that he worked on. After nearly a year his death, the jungle book was released and critics acclaimed it to be nearly perfect movie. Jon Favreau has directed this movie and has surely done justice with it.
This movie revolves around Mowgli, here played by Neel Sethi a newcomer, an orphan who is left in the jungle where a pack of Wolves raise him. The alpha of the pack Akela and panther Bagheera have been portrait by GianCarlo Esposito and Ben Kingsley perfectly. There is a drought hit and animals have made a friendly alliance until rains come back. However sher khan, Idris Elba is on hunt for his meal and has his sights set on Man cub mowgli. When he realises that he is a danger to his family, he leaves them and goes on his journey accompanied by Bagheera to become what he was destined to be.
As the jungle book originally was a great movie, this one is kept exceptionally close to it. Releases like Maleficient, peter pan and all have also been kept close to the originals which brings back nostalgia too.
Kaa is played by Scarlett Johnson and surely it brings back lots of memories. Ballu the bear is played by Bill Murray along with two songs from the original movie also feature in the film. The movie however is scary at parts. Sher khan has been portrait by elba as a very scary and nasty lion. Along with it, the chase scenes and the scene with Kaa are very scary. It is advised that kids beyond 8 should go and watch the movie.
The movie, story and characters are solid. The CGI has been played better than Avatar and life of Pi combined. It is very amazing. The Jungle book used ground breaking stuff and took CGI to the next level. 3D itself is also very advanced and realistic. Along with the graphics, it is amazing to see how Neel sethi has performed so well he seems in so synchronisation with the environment.
Vocals have been outstanding especially for Baloo and fierce tone of Idris Elba as sher khan. He also performed well in Finding Dory and Zootropolis. This movie will surely strengthen the benchmark which earlier 2D Jungle book had set. Story, characters, vocals, graphics and the nostalgia factor, all are spot on. This one might be even better than the original one. Just go and see in the theatres near you for fun experience. Watch the trailer Here.
