Lodi Dynasty

•Lodi Gardens – Mosque and tombs were built inside the garden premise

•Sheesh Gumbad – Dome made up of Glazed bricks
•Sikandar Lodi tomb

MUGHALS

•Babur – Brought Garden Architecture to India
•Humayun – redeveloped the PURANA QILA premise after defeating Sher Shah Suri and
reconstructed QILA – I – KUHNA mosque
Sher Mandal was reconstructed by Humayun as a Library 

MUGHALS

 Humayun’s tomb  - commissioned by his wife BEGA BEGUM. Depicts garden architecture
•Simplistic architecture
•Symmetry in architecture
•Material used -  marble and red  sandstone
•At the time of Akbar Agra was the first capital and AGRA FORT was built under his rule.
•A new city was established around pivoting Salim Chishti Dargah  that is Fatehpur Sikri.
•The Highest gateway of India , BULAND DARWAZA is also a part of the FORT which is the main entrance of the fort.
•Eminent structures of the fort – Panch Mahal, Anoop Talao, Deewan-e-am,Deewan-e-qhas.
•Jahangir introduced much intricacy in architecture.
•Though Akbar’s tomb in Sikandara which was constructed under Jahangir is considered as transitional architectural style.
•The tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, father of Nur Mahal, wife of Jehangir is completely made up of marble elaboratory ornamented
•His inclination was much towards painting.

Shah Jahan

•In his era the empire and architecture both flourished to the apex limits
•Taj Mahal which is a symbol of paradise was the most eminent structure of this era.
•TAJ has many adaptation of western style and Indian style which depict serenity and divinity.
•Other major architectural achievement was SHAHJEHANABAD. Which was a walled city and had 16gateways.
•Eminent structure of the city was the fort (RED FORT) which was connected to the JAMA MASJID which was the center of the city.

Aurangzeb

 Shifted Mughal court to Deccan
Bibi ka Makbara – Aurangzeb’s wide tomb in Aurangabad
Lahori Masjid (BADSHAHI MASJID) Largest in the subcontinent.
Moti Masjid in the Red fort Delhi
