Van Gaal’s Take on Mourinho to United Sepculations

Recent speculations have raised over the future of Manchester United manager, Luis Van Gaal. Another story developed last week, suggesting that Manchester United are considering to appoint Mourinho as the potential replacement for Van Gaal in the summer.

Louis Van Gaal has come out of silence in response, and told the reporters that he has an excellent relationship with the club’s board, and they would’ve informed him if any talks were held between Mourinho and the club.

Van Gaal has been criticized by pundits, fans and the board itself for the new style of play he has been trying to introduce in the current team- though it has failed dramatically. His side has been dumped out of the Champions League group stage, and the team is also very unlikely to overturn the 12-point gap with the current table leaders, Leicester City.

He told The Independent, “I have not said that we have Spoken, but he [Mourinho] is my friend, so there you go.” He has also confirmed that Manchester United hasn’t spoken to Mourinho. “I can only say that I have spoken with [United’s executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward and I cannot imagine that they have spoken with each other.

“I think that if they speak with another manager, they would tell me because our relationship is like that. But I think that, if they want to change, they have to prepare themselves. That is also a professional attitude, in my opinion.”

The story is likely to turn in many ways over the next few months, unless Manchester United starts performing, like they used to.
