Dimitri Payet will lead West Ham to the Olympic Stadium next season after signing a new contract to become the club’s top earner.
The France star joined on a five-year contract from Marseille last summer.
But Payet’s huge impact on the club has attracted interest from the Chinese Super League and seen head coach Slaven Bilic label him “our best player”.
With the Hammers determined to sell-out their new 54,000-seater stadium, Payet agreed a new £125,000-a-week deal to keep him at West Ham until 2021.
The £50,000-a-week pay hike means he now earns more than Andy Carroll. After Payet provided the assist for the Angelo Ogbonna’s FA Cup winner over Liverpool, Bilic said:
“We must do everything we can to keep our best players, and he is our best player. He’s happy here and very soon we will sort out his situation.”
“If you are playing like he is playing, if you are that calibre of players, many clubs are showing interest to get those kind of players but we are going to do everything we can to keep him with us.”
Payet has six Premier League goals and four assists this season.
