The ransacked Danquah Institute office
Personnel believed to be drained from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Ghana Police Service on Thursday evening ransacked the office of the Danquah Institute in Accra.
Perry Okudzeto is a Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, told the media that they contained within a Police officer in uniform and 6 others in mufti. He described that when the Security operatives come to the place they ordered the guardian to open the gate which he denied.
According to him, they then jumped and entered the buildings adding that the guardian guessing danger took to his heels. Mr Okudzeto stated the Security Operatives powerfully opened the office of the Danquah Institute and raided the place.
The NPP’s Deputy Director of Communications speak the security operators also took to their heels when they heard that people were coming to the place. He speak that the party is taking stock of their official papers and would make an official protest to the Police.
The Danquah Institute was made in January 2008 and after Dr. Joseph Boakye Danquah, one of the creators of Ghana’s first political party the United Gold Coast Convention, which has changed into the New Patriotic Party. The organization is aimed at helping as an activism body for improving Ghana’s electoral methods.
The raid comes on the return of the arrest of the 3 South African ex-Police officers in the state for training private security workers for the opposition New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Contestant. The 3 who were arrested on Sunday contained with Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (rtd), 54; Warrant Officer Denver Dwayhe, 33, and Captain Mlungiseli Jokani, 45 and have been accused with plan to commit crime and criminal training.
The Head of Nana Addo’s owner of the EL-Capitano Hotel Captain (rtd) Acquah and the security team Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda were also arrested and accused but the country has dropped the blames against them.
The NPP had claimed that they committed no crime by winning the services of the former South African security operators.
So it’s an approved that Ghanaian security company keep fit our people with the help of advisors from South Africa” Mr. Okudzeto described. Mr. Okudzeto worried that the men were not being skilled in weapon handling and that the alarm being generated was needless.
