Patron donating Blood at the MTN ‘Save a Life’ campaign
This year’s exercise, the 5th in a series, practices part of an annual exercise started by the telecoms company to have fun on Valentine’s Day.
Mrs. Cynthia Lumor is the Executive Director of the Mtn Ghana Foundation, the change was part of showing love to friends and family on Valentine’s Day by “giving the donation of life to those in need.”
The goal of this year’s exercise was to gather 1200 bottles from nine bleeding centers in Accra, Sekondi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Tarkwa, Kumasi, Tamale, Asante Mampong and Bolga.
Mrs Lumor said, Last year, the foundation go to collect 700 bottles of blood and with the help of partners and volunteers it was able to complete that target and gather 1, 135 pints throughout the country.
Mrs Lumor expressed the confidence that the blood collected will go far off to fulfill the needs of the particular blood banks.
She said, most prominently it is our hope that with the continuous help of all our volunteers, Ghana will attain the World Health Organization (WHO) target of obtaining 100% unpaid and voluntary blood donation by 2020.
Companions for the project contains the blood banks of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, National Blood Bank, Effia Nkwanta Hospital in Takoradi, Bolga Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital and Cape Coast Regional Hospital.
In my opinion,it is very good gift for human being to ‘save a life’ campaign of MTN Ghana Foundation.
