A Lion Cub born in captivity in Lima is healthy and strong, zoo officials say, as prepare to make her debut. Julie Noce reports.
The newest addition to Peru’s Legends Park cat family is just about purrrrfect.
Meet Chiclayanita… a six week old Lion cub. The first born in captivity here in more than 20 years.
Zoo officials say she’s growing right on schedule.
“She weighs four kilos and was born weighing approximately 800 grams. At seven days after birth she weighed 1.3 kilos. You can see she’s at optimal health, she has weekly check ups so as not to affect the pack.”
Once Chiclayanita is a bit older and a bit stronger she’ll return to the lion’s public enclosure where officials say she’ll be the pride of the zoo.
