Koala on the loose tops animal news

A Koala dodges authorities in Australia, rescued sea turtles arrive for rehab in San Diego, and sea lions are forced to scooch off an Oregon dock in this week’s animal wrap. Gavino Garay reports.

This rogue koala bear brought traffic to a halt in Queensland, Australia… before a police officer forced the marsupial to move along.

The officer kept a close watch on the koala until he found a spot on a tree and away from danger.

More rescue stories in this week’s animal news…

Two sea turtles named Thunder and Lightning made it to San Diego to begin their long-term rehabilitation at SeaWorld.

The two Olive Ridley turtles were discovered stranded and comatose along the Oregon Coast last december after a big winter storm.

They were suffering from severe hypothermia, but wildlife biologists hope for a full recovery and eventually releasing them in the wild.

Back along the Oregon coast, good luck trying to catch some rays along this Astoria pier — where a sea lion invasion has caused headaches for boaters and fisherman.

But with the help of locals, inflatable wind tubes were enough to scare them back into the water.. for now.
