Following critical acclaim for his performance in Concussion, Will Smith has confirmed that his next project will be slightly less high-brow. Bad Boys 3 is coming back, and if Will Smith is hoping for a nomination at next year’s Academy Awards, this probably won’t be the movie that gets him it.
The news of Bad Boys 3 is old, but this is the first time that Will Smith has confirmed his involvement in the movie. Fans were refusing to take this for granted after Smith’s refusal to take part in an Independence Day sequel.
The Bad Boys movies were fun, but they failed to emulate the incredible on-screen chemistry and camaraderie that Riggs and Murtaugh enjoyed in the Lethal Weapon series. Nevertheless, Will Smith will once again team up with Martin Lawrence to shoot a third movie – proving just how predictable and money-driven Hollywood is at the moment.
Smith said:
“I saw Martin a few weeks ago. I haven’t seen him for about two years. We just looked at each other. We hugged. In that moment we knew we were making another Bad Boys. We’re definitely doing another one.”
Yawn
God forbid Will Smith actually makes a cop movie set in a place called reality.
Bad Boys 3 has a provisional release data of 17 February 2017. But that’s not all folks. There are rumours that two movies will be filmed back to back. Slashfilm is reporting that Bad Boys 4 will be hitting cinema screens in July 2019.
