Beauty in Tradition – the Wedding | Heksa + Intan

“Halo, is this thePhotographwedding? …” that was Heksa calling thePhotograph back then when we were still using the name “thePhotographwedding” before finally cutting it to be “thePhotograph” only. His voice is clearly good, as good as a radio DJ or an MC. He asks and says things in good chronoligy. It made our marketers suspected that he was just some spy who were trying to know price listing.

But with several callings and emails to thePhotograph we became reminded and at the end sent him the price list. He called again after seeing the basic packages price as his would be a very customised package with four programmes in his wedding series: Proposal, Siraman, Akad, and Reception. Heksa and his spouse, Intan would follow the rich culture of Palembang (Reception) and Sunda (Akad).

The last series in dealing process was that finally Heksa and Intan met Renata at our studio to ask more about details and to see the portfolio straight away. On the website, you could only see the 2D form but at the studio you could see how we process your photos to result the best. Of course, we would show you our very own customised designed wedding albums too. Every client would have different design to the others.

Intan turned out to our admiration is as beautiful and ellegant like an Indonesian actress. Heksa and Intan are very compatible for each other. They are reserved couple with Indonesian original beauty.

In the wedding series, Intan always looked stunning with the make up and Traditional costumes. Even during Pengajian (Moslem Prayer) which was held on the same day with Siraman, she was simply a princess in her hijab. The next series the following days were just the same, even with more cultural decoration and beautiful details, it just added to people’s adoration on how beautiful a Traditional Wedding can be.

A lot of interesting meaning behind every symbols seen in a traditional wedding. The jasmine flowers often seen as hair decoration symbolize simplicity. Jasmine is Indonesian national flower. They grow wildly without treatment complication yet they give small adorable white flowers with ethnic fragrance like no others.

The traditional Palembang costumes reminded people of the rich culture of former Sriwijaya Kingdom which was in Palembang last time. A typical Palembang traditional wedding costumes are dominated by red and gold. You could compare the difference of Palembang crown worn by Intan here with the Padang crown worn by Ica, our Padang bride last year. Intan’s gown was also modernised at the shoulder. It was so ellegant. The songket used as lower part of the costumes reflects social class, it depends on the pattern and fabrics.

Tari Pagar Pengantin (literally means Bride Fence Dance) brought by the bride in the beginning of the reception. She should Dance standing on a traditional tray made from bamboo plait, called “tampah”, full with flowers. The dance was so called the last dance of an unmarried woman. We could see the beauty in the dance as she was gracefully moving her beautifully Henna painted fingers with her head moves and smiles that followed accordingly.
