According to the Department of Tourism, the pageant will be held in Manila in on January 30, 2017. That's about six months to go.
Tourism Secretary Wanda Corazon Teo said that President Rodrigo Duterte has already made a go-signal for the country to host the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, as long as it wouldn't generate heavy traffic around metro. She added that the government will not spend any budget for the pageant, instead, the private sector will carry the cost of the pageant's production amounting to $11-M.
The last country that hosted Miss Universe was the United States in 2015. Philippines' Pia Wurtzbach has won the title which has been elusive for the Philippines in more than three decades.
