The Southwest Florida community of Lakewood Ranch has made it to the top of two national lists of Best Selling master planned communities. The California based John Burns Real Estate Consulting put LWR at number nine while the Maryland based RCLCO lists it at number eight. Lakewood
Ranch was in competition with some very well known master planned communities in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada and Texas.
The visitor's information centers in LWR tallied more than 28,000 visitors last year with 535 new home sales as a result of that traffic, an increase of 13% from the previous year. Several newcomers have joined the lineup of luxury builders in LWR such as Del Webb, Mattamy and WCI, offering a diversified array of home products, sizes and prices with an emphasis on more affordable housing. The top selling national communities have reported that it's this diversification that has allowed them to remain competitive and increase their sales.
This year's increased sales were due in no small part to the strong sales in Central Park, Esplanade and Bridgewater along with the two new communities of Indigo and Harmony. As of the end of this year, Lakewood Ranch had a total of 8,952 existing homes and 1,053 of existing apartment units available and there are currently 261 new homes and 640 apartments under construction. These numbers will only increase with the addition of the two incoming neighborhoods of Mallory Park and Waterside. Mallory Park is currently under construction on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard while Waterside is still in the beginning stages of construction south of University Parkway.
