The Monthly is a new monthly celebration of women in Comedy at Yuk Yuk’s Vancouver! The series kicks off on Valentine’s Day this Sunday featuring Kathleen McGee, Jane Stanton, Amber Harper-Young, Fatima Dhowre, and Kate Belton! TICKETS>
Kathleen McGee is the girl your parents warned you about. She will make you laugh and blush all at the same time. You may have seen her on Bite TV or touring all over Canada and most recently she was the Comedy Channel’s winner for the “Search for Russell Peter’s BFF.” Kathleen’s unapologetic, dark, and sassy sense of humour will have you talking long after the show is over.
Watching Jane Stanton on stage is like having a late night conversation with you best friend, if your best friend is one of the funniest people you know. In her short time performing comedy Jane has toured across Canada, won Vancouver’s funniest new female comic 2006 and has been featured on CBC Radio 1, XFM and the Can West Comedy Festival.
In Toronto 2010 Amber was nominated Fresh Meat. She was a finalist in BC’s Funniest Female 2014. Amber produces and hosts Hardcore Girls Stand-Up and and co-hosts Vancouverite. She just recently co-created/co-hosted and performed in a live triology of Tragedy Comedy Shows at the Vancouver Yuk Yuks. Amber’s absurd colourful style of self-deprecating comedy is based on her upbringing and adult life.
Fatima Dhowre is her mother’s favourite stand up comic. Her charming smile and wit have carved her out a space in Vancouver’s thriving comedy scene. Born in Montreal, Fatima’s odd perspective on life stems from her nerdy pursuits to her unusual African family and everything in between. She’ll bring the jokes, if you bring the laughter.
