One major storyline in the NBA Finals thus far has been Kevin Love. The Cavaliers’ power forward has been sub-par in the one-and-a-half games he has played before suffering a concussion in game two. Notably, the Cavs finally found success in game three, without Love playing, to dominate and blow out the Warriors for their first win in the series.
The question now shifts to what role Love should play once he is cleared to contribute. Many have called for the forward to be benched and to play only spot minutes due to his defensive inabilities.
But, of course, Love has to be cleared first before that becomes an actual issues. Preliminary reports have the Cavs being optimistic that Love will return in game four but nothing is set in stone yet. And as Andrew Bogut proclaims in the video above, the team and Love both have to be very pre-cautious, considering the injury.
In the same clip, Andrew Bogut actually comes to the defense of his opponent, speaking about his own experiences with concussions and the long process to get back to playing after suffering one. More importantly, Bogut casually bashes the select few fans, and perhaps certain media people, for calling Love “soft” by turning it around and calling those people “idiots.”
I personally have not seen too many people call Love Soft after that injury, though his return to the court after the initial blow did make some believe in that nonsense. Nevertheless, it is good to see an actual athlete speak publicly about how serious concussions are and how important it is to be cautious about them.
