How can Ted Cruz be a good President if he can't even care for the people?
What was Ted Cruz doing? A standard GOP Establishment tactic of using the suffering of citizens affected by storm events to push the GOP's agenda (which is basically to lower taxes for the rich people who fund their campaigns while increasing taxes on poor people to balance the revenue lost by lower taxes for the tax bracket their rich donors are in). What Ted Cruz is doing can be illustrated by the following video by one of the GOP Establishment's ex- AND current leaders in political strategy, Eric Cantor;

What Cantor did above and what Ted Cruz did with Hurricane Sandy was basically vantage the same, i.e. turn the pain of the suffering to their political advantage
This sort of hypocrisy by the GOP Establishment is normal. Not helping people when they are victims of a disaster (Proving they would make bad Presidents) followed by shamefully asking for Federal Aid when their OWN communities are affected SO THEY DON'T LOSE AN ELECTION... so they can black aid for victims again in the future. Such people shouldn't even be called Christian much less American!

Furthermore, Rick Ungar, writing at Forbes, pointed out that the “pork” came from having to bribe red state Republicans — including Texas — in order to get the package passed over their filibuster, “However, as it turns out, the pork portions of the Senate bill were not earmarked to benefit Democratic members of the upper chamber of Congress…The answer can be found in a quick review of the states that are set to benefit from the Senate’s extra-special benevolence—states including Alabama, Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana.”
The stunning hypocrisy doesn’t end there. It probably would have been helpful if Senator Cruz were familiar with where his own state fell on the FEMA hand out chart. See, Cruz represents the state with the most FEMA-declared disasters since the start of 2009, according to an iWatch News analysis. “The top two states, Texas and Oklahoma, combined for more than a quarter of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s declared disasters since Jan. 1, 2009.”

For all of Republicans’ bluster about the evil fed and how they want to secede and how everyone should be like them, and pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, it’s instructive to recall Gov. Perry’s outraged condemnation at being left to his own devices after fires swept across Texas, “It is not only the obligation of the federal government, but its responsibility under law to help its citizens in times of emergency.” And now, Perry is desperately gloaming onto Big Daddy President Obama, going so far as to finally admit that the President is a Christian.
No Republican ever manages to tell us where that money is supposed to come from if we don’t collect revenue, instead they claim offsets should be found before the relief is doled out — unless, of course, it’s their state under seige.
Cut to April of 2013. Texas needs federal aid because they don’t do such a great job of regulating and overseeing businesses or zoning, apparently. So when a fertilizer plant that had once been allowed to operat without a pollution permit for several years blew up and impacted a nearby school and nursing home, the devastating damage was more than Texas could cope with alone.
Sen. Cruz will visit West on Friday. He finally issued a statement from the Capitol, “We are in very close touch with officials on the ground and we’re monitoring the tragic accident closely. It’s truly horrific and we are working to ensure that all available resources are marshaled to deal with the horrific loss of life and suffering that we’ve seen.”
Here Ted Cruz acts like a Christian and responsible politician by HELPING people in need. But he won't do it for everyone in the country. He has to like their values first. What an awful heartless bully President this guy would make.
Article: Ted Cruz's relief funding hypocrisy disappoints: Cruz, along with 31 other Senators in his caucus, voted against this legislation in late December of 2013, citing what they considered excessive pork-barrel spending. But the legislation actually provided key funds to repair infrastructure destroyed by the storm, provided loans to small businesses for rebuilding and increased funds for healthcare facilities in order to cope with the human toll of the storm. This legislation was quite necessary. The maneuvering against it was just another attempt by Cruz and fellow senators to score points with constituents by wrestling the federal deficit.
But Cruz only crusades against the federal deficit until it undermines his political standing. There was little political fallout for advocating against spending on Hurricane Sandy as a senator from Texas, but it was a political necessity to advocate for spending on the flooding in his home state. While the amount of money is certainly different, so was the scope of the disaster. By advocating against Sandy relief funds, Cruz portrayed himself as a champion of fiscal conservatism. But there is little chance he would rally against additional federal assistance to those affected in Texas.
Texans should care about the precedent set by Cruz and others in his party. Disaster relief funds should never become a political issue even when it is expedient. Funds should be readily available for citizens of all 50 states, regardless of their preference for a certain political party. As Americans and as Texans, we were willing to help our fellows in need. Reactions to last week’s flooding showed that. But our Representatives in the Senate thought differently. While Senators Cruz and Cornyn called for Federal relief funds for the flooding in Texas, they refused to vote for necessary funds to help the Mid-Atlantic States rebuild from the second-costliest storm in American history. That is not acceptable. Cruz should have been a strong advocate for spending for both disasters and should be equitable rather than regional in his votes, especially as he seeks nationwide office. Our elected representatives should act with a conscience-driven by compassion, not by self-interest.
