Anna-Wili Highfield Paper Sculptures

Paper Sculptures

Paper Sculptures Made into Art:

Creating art from Scrap and bringing life to something that should be tossed is something to be admired. The idea of looking at something that should be thrown away and seeing some creative force remaining asking for life is a talent that only a few posses.

Anna-Wili Highfield is one of these people, she’s an artist based in Sydney who makes Sculptures of animals from torn scrap Paper and copper pipe. The archival cotton paper is painted and sewn together to make the figure of an animal. The copper pipe is then twisted to create figures that look like 3-D line drawings.

Anna’s work has been featured in the Anthropologie Gallery in New York, the windows of Hermes in their Brisbane store, her commissions have also travelled to the homes of people all around the world, like Sydney, Melbourne, Paris, London, Toronto and New York.

Most of Anna-Wili’s work is commission based, so if you are interested in commission work you can contact her via email. There is usually a waiting period of some months for each piece. As a general guide, prices presently start from $1200 AUD for the smallest to $6000 for the largest Paper Sculptures.

So there seems to be definitely money in scrap, although these beautiful objects are far far removed from what I would class as scrap, they are truly impressive art pieces!
