RZ-9 (RED ZONE 9)

The US has suffered a major terrorist attack. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles have been annihilated by weapons of mass destruction, and the US government has declared martial law. America hires private soldiers, and develops a state-of-the-art drone patrol system to monitor its citizens and locate any new terrorist activities.

A modified version of the final Artwork and title treatment. NOT FINAL ART.
At the time I was awarded the project from Multivisionnaire, there was no synopsis and the overall story was told to me in a sentence: Los Angeles has been attacked and private soldiers have been dispatched to erase any resistance to the state of law. There were some shots the client had taken of one of the 'erasers' that I retouched and styled, but the rest of the images were up to me. Before I got started with any of the actual Photoshop work, of course, I provided sketches to the client.
The fact that this was a first-time client and I only had a few days to turn around the finished artwork, I wanted to make sure I was going in the right direction by first providing the client with a few sketch options.
One of my favorite genres of films to work on is science-fiction so I was really excited to work on this poster. When the client gave me the character images for the poster, I could already see the finished art in my head. Ultimately, the client wanted to showcase the destroyed city background which was something I had to create, along with the high-res art, itself.

The title treatment was fun to work on, as well. I immediately knew what I wanted the title to look like and I was happy that the client liked it, too.  In the end, I think the final artwork is pretty cool.

The artwork on the left is what the client gave me as a rough to follow. The artwork on the right is the FINAL art.
With only days to create the background, make client edits, and deliver high-resolution artwork, I was pretty happy with the final outcome (above right). Of course, like any project, with a few days to think and some time to breathe, I was able to take the artwork to the next level (top) and give it the 'edge' I thought was missing from the printed artwork. Art is so subjective, however, some people may like the final art better. Which one do you like best?

Most of my work comes from word of mouth, so whatever you could do to help would be greatly appreciated.
