L.A. Traffic: It's about the flow

#TIME4CHANGELA

Los Angeles has one of the best year-round climates in the world and could regain its reputation for being the 'city of dreams,' if only the one thing bringing down the overall quality of life in L.A. could be reformed – the flow of traffic.

Unless you're completely oblivious to the everyday hassles of commuting in an automobile in Los Angeles -- and I know some people are -- then you know that things have to change...and fast. In 2014, our great city by the ocean is still being 'managed' by ideas and laws created for a smaller, less crowded L.A. That city is long gone and has been for years now.

No longer is it logical for Stupid people and bureaucracy to dictate laws and rules of the Road. The one thing that ruins EVERYONES day in Los Angeles without discriminating is the flow of Traffic -- or lack thereof. There must be really stupid people at City Hall in charge of keeping the traffic moving because there are things happening out on our roads that make commuting miserable. Even if you only have to drive for a mile, someone will do something stupid or you will hit a road closure, or both. Chances are, you will witness several stupid drivers within your short commute. Imagine a longer one.

Yes, it's time for the grown-ups at City Hall to wake up and take charge or it will be time for Angelenos to start over with a clean slate -- vote everyone out and vote new blood in. We need people who 'get it' and want to change the old way of doing things because they understand that the old way of doing things is completely unacceptable. It's 2014...hello? What's not to get?

Don't forget: General Election - Tuesday, November 4, 2014 -- Please vote.

Where's the app that shows drivers real-time road closures and detours planned and approved by the city, on a map based on your current location? Why make us wait until we are at the closure and trapped by traffic all around us? Why not give the people of L.A. the ability to plan around all the chaos?

Los Angeles needs new laws for pedestrians, too. There's nothing like a bunch of stupid, clueless zombies walking while texting or looking at their phones, all while crippling the flow of traffic. No longer should laws give pedestrians the right of way. If you're a walking hazard and can't figure it out -- maybe you hang off the curb while waiting to cross a busy intersection, forcing drivers that are making a right turn to stop or slow down -- you deserve to get hit. You are the dumbshit. You should be held responsible. Not the driver of the 2,000lb. automobile going with the flow of traffic who has to brake to make sure you don't end your life in front of their vehicle. Step back, dummy! And, get off your damn phone.

The police aren't any help, either. I was pulled over recently because a local sheriff was pulling out in the middle of traffic and almost hit me. I was moving along with the flow of traffic on Fountain Avenue and without warning or any lights, this sheriff's patrol car comes barreling out of a side street and into traffic to make a left turn. Right in front of me! No lights. No siren. Just in a hurry to get off work, I guess. I thought law enforcement had to follow the rules of the road like the rest of us, but apparently not. They are entitled to do whatever they want so make sure you slam on your brakes and cause an accident to let them through...or you'll be sorry.

The police and local sheriffs should be stopping the idiot drivers causing the problems. Not actual be part of the problem. Why is it that law enforcement only see the people affected by dumb drivers in the city and they never notice or stop the culprits who cause all the chaos in the first place? I mean, I could stand on any busy intersection and catch people causing traffic problems. Problems that will no doubt set off a chain reaction and will inevitably lead to angry drivers trying to get home in one piece. Why not nip the problem in the bud and pull over the obvious idiot on the phone, give them a hefty citation and let them know how much of a hazard they are. No one wants to be on the road an extra 10-15 minutes longer than they have to, yet there are so many stupid people on the road with no agenda, plan or place to go...or even a clue of how to get there. WTF??
