A couple of weeks ago you may have seen me post up about being on set for Dene Michael‘s new video for his new track “Hold Me Now“, last week I was back on set again (or rather out on location in a cold and breezy Rhyl sea front) to film more of the narrative for the music video.
Starting at around 8am I travelled up to the location and met up with the crew from Video Star UK, along with the Director Lee Howard, to start filming more of the scenes, but this time I wasn’t just on set/location photographer, I actually got the chance to help out.
OK it may have only been holding the light reflector, but boy was that a test of grip, with the wind coming in across the sea and trying to take the reflector from my hands to send it flying away, but it was all worth it to be part of the team.
As you can see from the photo above, it looks sunny, but look at those waves!
Suffice to say to was nice to finish on that location and then get to the warmth of indoors at the next shoot, where there was a lovely coal fire burning to help us warm up, plus the coffee and tea was flowing to help us warm up that little bit quicker.
Although everything is very serious when it comes down to filming, there are still those moments when we all take a break and have a laugh, hey you have to.
But all joking aside, filming carried on and it was completed in a quicker time than I had expected.
So that was another day of filming completed, the day’s footage was “in the can”, well actually in was on a hard drive and ready to go back to Video Star UK HQ and get sorted ready for getting cut together in the finished video, but there was one more day of shooting to go!
Dene Michael’s Hold Me Now Video Shoot – Last Day
So today was the last day of shooting for Dene’s music video, it was another early start as I made my way to the location that we was filming at the previous week, yes the coal fire was roaring away on what was a cold and frosty morning.
Now this morning was a bit of a slow one for me for the on set photography, as the filming took place in a slightly confined place, but I did manage to get a shot of actress Lauren Bracken, as she was preparing for her part in the video.
So after the photo I took myself in to the kitchen area for a coffee, hooked up to the WiFi and checked my tweets, replied to a few and generally had a chat with graphic artist Bridie as she worked on some of the artwork for Dene’s video.
On to Another Location
Two hours after arriving, this shoot was over, it was time to catch up with the Director and the cast over a hot drink and talk the next scene and the location, which was over in Rhyl at the award-winning Pier Hotel. Many of you who follow me on Twitter will see I visit the guys at the hotel several times and have become great friends with them, so it was great that they agreed to be part of the video and let the crew in to film in the hotel’s newly refurbished bar area.
Arriving at around 12pm, the crew and myself got everything set up for the scene in the bar, some of the extras were already there when we arrived so thankfully no waiting around for late comers to the shoot. I also had chance to check out where I was going to be with my trusty DSLR for some nice behind the scenes photography.
It’s been a fantastic few weeks being with the cast & crew of the “Hold Me Now” video, I’m so glad that I was asked to be on board with Video Star UK and am really happy that I have become part of the team, this means that I will be working more closely with them on future projects and as part of that working relationship with Blazing Minds, I’ll be able to bring you more behind the scenes news and photography.
All that leaves me to say is a massive big shout out to (deep breath now folks): Ian Price, Addie Davies, Adam Dawson, Bridie May, Ashlay McDowell Howard, Lee Howard, Dene Michael, Lauren Bracken, Stevie Jaxx Duncan, Jonathan Price, Megan Danks, Gemma Lawman, Gemma Haughton, Karen Howard, Chris Jones, Andrea Carless and Wayne at the Pier Hotel Rhyl.
It’s been a ride of a lifetime, please check out the behind the scenes photos of Dene Michael’s new video for “Hold Me Now” in the slide show below.
