Week One Complete

We did it! We made it through week one of BLW. Remy progressed rather rapidly, to be honest, this week. Maybe I don’t remember how quickly Elodie caught on? Or maybe eating with all of us as we are stuck at home just provides a bit more motivation. Food options were relatively limited to him this week – he was offered Wheat Bread, avocado, banana, blueberries, bell pepper, cucumber, celery, carrot, hummus, and then I spontaneously gave him penne pasta with Tomato Sauce on Friday night.

One of the major principles of BLW is that the baby eats what you eat. Almost no matter what. I was getting ready to let Remy chew on some Veggie Sticks while we had pasta for dinner and it struck me…wait…he can totally have this pasta too. I made the sauce so I know truly know the contents – mainly concerned about sodium levels there. There was no reason he couldn’t participate! He didn’t seem to swallow any of that meal but he definitely enjoyed the taste and had fun picking the pasta up/sucking on it.

So far I think his favorites are avocado, yogurt, red bell pepper and hummus. Oh and wheat bread…goodness did he swallow a huge chunk of that. Funny since he barely touched it last weekend. Looks like the yogurt made all of the difference.

Sunday we plan to introduce peanut butter (has to be a non-work day so my husband is around just in case of an allergy) and then this coming week he will also be offered salmon. Wild Alaskan salmon is a pretty big staple in our house so I’d like to know if that is going to be an issue early on. Other than that I plan to keep offering what he’s had thus far. We’ll see how it goes!

Finally, I added a few links to some cookbooks I love to gather inspiration from and a little about me section to the blog – search the menu above or click the links!
