Introducing Allergenic Foods

This week Remy got a taste for a number of new foods! I’m a big believer in Introducing Allergenic Foods early as research has shown waiting until a later time may increase the risk of developing an allergy. So this past weekend, we went for it. Remy started with Peanut Butter Toast on Saturday, followed by almond butter toast on Sunday. So far the only food that has caused slight rash is tomato which is unsurprising. Elodie was the same way – and it’s not after consumption it’s typically contact dermatitis when the juice touches the skin.

We also introduced two types of fish this week – salmon and pollock. He genuinely seemed to enjoy both. They were cooked on the stove top in avocado oil but without salt or pepper on his pieces. Remy is loving fruit (no surprise there) and is currently favoring strawberries over blueberries. This weekend I plan on bringing eggs back into the picture, as Remy hasn’t really successfully tasted them yet.

This boy is hilarious when eating with us. He yells (really, really loudly) if we take anything away before he is ready. And it’s pretty heartwarming to see him try to manage the food in his hands – working so hard to get it to his mouth. It’s really been an awesome thing to watch and he’s getting better at it every day.

I’ve been updating the Meals section of this site on a more regular basis than the blog – I figured it could be a good spot for inspiration but also helps me keep track of what Remy has been eating! Let’s face it – I don’t have all the time in the world to regularly post right now. But I am aiming to at least do a weekly wrap up! Meals will be updated daily.
