How good? Maybe The Best AEC Tech Writer On Project Management Available

Part of the point of this blog is to showcase my work, so I can get more work and keep going. I was lucky a couple years back to have some steady work with Arc Document Solutions, which provides project management software and facilities management software.

In this niche I've also written for Flux, BluVue, Kespry, Procore, Fieldwire and Rhumbix.  Facebook, Rolls-Royce, Xerox and GE also have hired me to write copy for them.

Project management software and its close relative, facilities management software, are saving time, money and lives by making building documents immediately available to facilities staff, emergency responders and others in need of the documents--stuff like blueprints and equipment manuals, evacuation routes, warranties on equipment, manuals and logs, etc.

So without further adieu, I am posting a little list of most of the stuff I wrote for ARC in 2015 and 2016. I came up with many of the ideas for these stories, if not most of them. If the Procores, Blubeams, Fieldwires, Egnytes, Salesforce's and others in this sector can hire a better writer in this realm, they should hire that writer. But I believe they can't hire a better one than me. The following list is meant to help prove it:

Story Placements in Media by Barnes: [Stories devised and pitched, then written and placed by Barnes, through his understanding of media, and his media contacts.]

“Proper Record Keeping,” a piece about document control that I wrote, was published in the May 2016 issue of The Cooperator, the NYC flagship publication of the B2B co-op/condo-focused Cooperator group of monthlies:
ARC was featured in this piece, and was the seed for my story idea.

Second Cooperator story on Record-Keeping in which ARC is featured. The piece is being revised and used in at least three of the group’s other monthlies, including the Chicago edition, called The Cooperator Chicagoland, where it is currently live right here:

Devised the idea, OK’d with ARC and successfully pitched and placed story in BuiltWorlds online construction tech magazine. The first one is titled:“SKYSITE syncs risks with greater docs control, tighter security.”

Devised the idea, OK’d with ARC and successfully pitched and placed a SECOND BuiltWorlds story on ARC Document Solutions in BuiltWorlds: ARC Taps Facilities, emergency Management as Growing Markets”
Writing of 3 Briefs on BIM for placement in AIA newsletter. [This placement was done at behest of ARC—not Barnes initiative, but Barnes writing; placement done by ARC.]
