Visitors to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World can bring some out-of-this-world souvenirs back to their home bases, including hand-built lightsabers and remote-control droids. But if you don't have a few hundred bucks to drop on merchandise, there's another memento that has been highly coveted by more budget-conscious Star Wars fans - specially designed Coca-Cola bottles that would fit right in on Batuu.
Because of their resemblance to thermal detonators (that's Star Wars speak for "explosive device"), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) originally said on Twitter earlier this month that this particular souvenir was not allowed in carry-on or checked baggage.

When asked by a Twitter user, @AskTSA responded by saying, "Replica and inert explosives aren't allowed in either carry-on or checked bags," which meant you'd have had to ship them home via FedEx or UPS before heading to the airport. But now the TSA has changed their tune. In an updated statement on their website on Aug. 28, they said:
"The issue concerning Star Wars Galaxy's Edge-themed soda bottles has recently been brought to our attention by the general public, as these items could reasonably be seen by some as replica hand grenades. We appreciate the concerns being raised, because replica explosives are not permitted in either carry-on or checked bags. We have completed our review, and instructed our officers to treat these as an oversized liquid. Because these bottles contain liquids larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), they should be put in checked baggage or emptied to be brought on as carry-on item. TSA officers will maintain the discretion to prohibit any item through the screening checkpoint if they believe it poses a security threat."
Happy travels, and may the force be with you!
