‘Junior’ Guzman-Feliz ‘Begged For His Life,’ Prosecutor Says as Murder Trial Begins

Five of the 14 men arrested in the brutal murder of Bronx teen   “Junior” Guzman-Feliz” appeared in court on Monday for opening statements.

They’re all being charged with first- and second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Assistant District Attorney Morgan Dolan said the “pack of gang members” pulled off a “well-executed plan,” in her opening statement.

Junior “was alone, unarmed, defenseless, outmanned, out-armed by this group of men and their fellow gang members” and that they “dragged him out as he begged for his life, as he held onto whatever he could to stop this,” Dolan added.

She also revealed that lethal wound to Junior’s neck came “from a knife 4 1/2 inches in depth — cutting his jugular vein.”

One of the defense attorneys for Trinitario member, Jose Muniz claims this client didn’t’ actually hit Junior with the machete and just pretended to for the camera, in fear that he would be hurt for not carrying out his Trinitario duties.

Martin Goldberg claimed Muniz was the “poster boy” for Junior’s death because he had the machete.

“Jose Muniz was a member of the Trinitarios,” Goldberg said. “It’s Jose Muniz in the video and he is the one who struck Junior between the knee and the torso.”

PIX 11 reports that Goldberg then referred to the medical examiner’s report which showed that Muniz “did not cause any physical injury to Junior. Not even a tiny bruise.”

“He could have hacked him with the machete,” Goldberg added.

“Jose was careful to never let the sharp side of the blade come in contact with Junior. He made it look like he was doing his job (as a Trinitario).”

Goldberg finished his statement with, “Yes, Justice for Junior. But also justice for the people not responsible for his death.”

Many of the defense lawyers argued that despite their clients being present at the attack, they did not inflict the fatal wound.

Junior’s family were also present in court. The trial will continue Tuesday morning.
