Narcissus Accord Formula

This year I am obsessed with daffodil flower. Spending many hours to recreate its splendid odour profile. I have made many versions - some more sweet-narcotic, some more animalistic with an indolic undertone. Trying to imitate the smell of fresh flowers aswell as Narcissus absolutes.

I wanted to share with you one of this formula, probably the most useful and universal one. It is mildly sweet, flowery with nuances of honey and animalistic notes. For me, it is most similar to Narcissus tazetta, but little bit more fresh and balanced. I had used Poucher’s formula as a starting point, adding trace amounts of indole and cresylic and phenolic ACs. To set down proportions I made us of GCMS analysis of Narcissus tazetta and* Narcissus pseudonarcissus as well as compared with narcissus absolute and dried flowers.

The current formula is made only with AC’s but I encourage to experiment, adding some naturals – especially ylang ylang EO and, of course, narcissus absolute. The last one is quite expensive but definitely worth to add – even 3% make this accord more complete and rich.

Feel free to use it as you think best. Hope it will be useful. If you have an idea for modification, please, share with us. :)

Cheers
Alan
