Looking for a balsamic/animalic 'vintage' of Habit Rouge

Dear All,
After doing a fair amount of reading through past threads, many of them from 10 years or more ago, I see that at some point (mid-2000's?) Habit Rouge in all formulations, except by some accounts the EdP, became more citric, less balsamic and animalic.
Sooo, I'm looking for a vintage that still has those qualities. The thing I can't figure out is what exactly "vintage" would mean for these purposes. Sadly Monsieur Guerlain's site is down at present, so I turn hopefully to you.

I have the recent, silver-capped bottles in EdT and EdC, which I love, but I for sure don't find them to be particularly skanky or balsamic. It seems that the same bottle and box designs but with a gold cap is the set of reformulations before the silver cap. And then we go back to the more square bottles, yes?
What vintage would you recommend to someone looking for the animal in the woods in the red jacket who perhaps resembles Keith Richards circa 1972?
Many thanks!
