Grief and (perfume) gifting

Tags: perfume father
This is a sad little thread, where I ask for your thoughts on how to ease the mourning of a person who have lost a close relative.

It´s my girlfriend who´s mourning - her father passed away this morning. He´s been ill for almost a year and GF took the plane to the hospital yesterday when the doctors said it was critical.
She´s far from home in the south of Sweden, but together with her brother and mother and old friends and other relatives, and I had no possibility to go there.

I feel helpless and not able to help her in her sadness, and that´s how it works in situations like this I guess, but I really want her to feel better.

So the question: when we both were in New York this spring we found the perfume of her dreams, her all time favourite, a perfume that´s unique compared to her other perfumes, and - most importantly - makes her feel strong. The perfume was very expensive so we didn't´t buy it there and then, but I have since acquired a 10 ml purse spray of it that she cherish and only wear on very special occasions when she want to be on top of the world. It could be an important meeting or a special night out.

I have now bought a full bottle of this special perfume and the plan was to give it on Christmas, but now I´m considering giving it to her as soon as she gets back home (and of course get something else for Christmas). Would you do it? Of course worldly things can´t bring her father back, and the perfume might remind her of this hard times. But it could also again make her feel strong, and really become a "signature" fragrance that is hers forever, that reminds her of her father. Because smell is so memory related I think this her favorite perfume will also be connected with the fond memories of her father. Do you think it is a good idea to gift her the perfume at this moment?

The perfume is Bond No 9 Dubai Jade.
