Bomb squad responds after Cathedral City resident calls to turn in military explosives

Fire crews and Bomb Squad personnel were called to a Cathedral City residence on Thursday after a man alerted authorities that he had 2 military explosives that he wanted to turn them in.

Teams responded to the home on Ventura Drive about 10:25 am, according to KESQ. Nobody was injured and the explosives were removed safely.

No word on how the man came into possession of the explosives but the Cathedral City Fire Department told the TV station that the homeowner followed the advised procedure.

According CCFD, the homeowner followed advised procedure by calling in the explosive hazards.
