I’m writing to tell you that I’ve significantly redesigned my photography website, and I’m happy to say that I think the new rendition is much improved in terms of immediately showing you the qualities and variety of my work, and in making it much easier for you to see what’s available on the site and how to get to it.

It amazes me (not in a good way!) that it took me so long to see that the changes were needed.  I started, recently, with an urge to re-edit certain images, especially older ones, in order to make use of my increased skills and some of the great new software available to us, like Topaz Labs’ Sharpening AI.  And after I’d done that, I woke up suddenly one morning, realizing, to my distress, how much the form of the website itself needed changing.  For too long, I think, I was content because I was pleased with the quality of PhotoShelter’s visual display of photographs.  (And the problems with my site weren’t because of any lack in PhotoShelter’s tools or support, but rather that I hadn’t made more and better use of them.)

Now my website’s organization and initial presentation are considerably better for viewers — and therefore for me.  In addition to the better landing-page spread of photos, you will see that in the left-hand column under “Overview,” the full names of all the individual portfolios represented on the site are listed, each one of which links directly to the named body of work.  Or, you can click on any image on the landing page to see a larger display of that single image, with controls and information relating to it.

In addition, now you’ll see the title of each image displayed below it (hurrah!), which the template I was using before didn’t make possible.  Given my decades of earlier study and work as a poet, those titles are rarely just descriptive, and my work on them was largely going to waste on the previous version of the site.
