Considering A Digital Magazine

An article written by: Lee Songan

“A magazine—a relevant one—should be a sound, not an echo.”― Tina Brown, The Vanity Fair Diaries: 1983-1992

Having a lot of written content on this website and ENTERTAINMENT CULTURE ONLINE, I have been considering creating a draft for a Magazine. The more I write, the more ideas come to me, naturally. So, in this following article, I will design a plan to potentially pitch to online publishers who distribute magazines on the internet.

Before committing to anything ill need some time to prepare and research. A task like this requires a colouring between a few people first and foremost. To be professional in creating a product of potential value there needs to be an editor, magazine creator (Graphic Designer), established distributor/s and most importantly the content writers.

Networking and pitches to forums or social media for these potential opportunities. Speaking of value, the pay would how to be fair towards the number of people purchasing the magazine digitally while any commission of ads. In the next paragraph, I will be talking about the source material.

For my own interests, I would prefer this plan based around topics/subjects I can and want to write about. With myself able to publish a few pieces of existing content each potential issue. But while UNGROOVYGORDS is a personal variety website, the selected niche needs to be perfect.

Categories in a potential magazine that I usually don’t cover:

  • Long written jokes or comedy stories
  • On the street interview questions/ survey questions
  • Debates on controversial/important issues
  • Images/Memes/Artwork in detail
  • And more as I think about it more!

Committing to some ideas first I would say it would between a monthly or six-month thing. All depending on how I can get people on board while following the rules and regulations behind the online distributers. I am open to any sort of name, logos, direction and whatever if it’s all worth doing.

Overall there’s some motivation to do this but like all things, it takes a lot of time and effort. In one way or another, my existing content shall be in a collection and sold somewhere. One first draft and I can pitch for it in the right way and see what happens. More information on this if it grows anything bigger than this starting concept.
