Marijuana Legalization

An article written by Lee Sonogan

The debate over the Legalization of Marijuana has expended in America and the world. Centring around some primary and related questions, is weed a legitimate medicine that alleviates certain ailments? or should we have the freedom to consume the ganja as we do alcohol and nicotine? In this article, I will discuss the pros and cons of this particular green. And why legalization is more positive than negative.

“The legalization of marijuana is not a dangerous experiment – the prohibition is the experiment, and it has failed dramatically, with millions of victims all around the world.” ― Sebastian Marincolo

Since THC products are increasingly being made legal for medicinal and/or recreational purposes, there are still people against it. Still saying its a “Gateway drug” and could lead to an undermining of physical and psychological health. In which contributes to risks for the public health, safety, and civic order.

For medical purposes of people who need it is much different than recreational use. Speaking about the pros now, I still believe in regulation to out way the potential negatives. Even though that means additional costs to monitor these legal policies, at the same time it creates higher revenue while also making new jobs in nurseries and dispensaries.

While a study in Colorado, America had an increase in first-time smokers between 12-20, other harder drug uses have not increased. The impact of nonviolent offenders and arrests for pot has changed in the overpopulated jail systems. And the economic importance has helped the agricultural communities to be more sustainable.

The majority of people support legalizing marijuana. Plus no one has a right to tell adults what they can put in their body. If legal I can see downsides such as the industrial complex which exploits although it is better than in the hands of the black market, drug cartels, organised crime and more. Other cons that weed could be blamed for are subjective and not included.

“The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world.” ― Carl Sagan
