The retired 5 time NBA champion capped off Kobe Day (August 24th) with the release of his 5 new A.D Colorways, a collaboration he did with Nike.
The ‘Black Mamba Mentality Pack’ collection boasts 5 colors; purple, grey, yellow, blue and red, with each color representing the many facets of his personality and state of mind. Each sneaker signifies the intimate exploration of Kobe Bryant’s multi-layered consciousness (specifically fearlessness, detachment, optimism, honesty and passion). Bryant went a step further and Challenged fellow sport stars and artists on social media to embrace their inner ‘Black Mamba’ by fulfilling an instruction.
Platinum certified rapper Kendrick Lamar was challenged to revolutionize the music program at Centennial High School, while 29 year old NFL Cornerback Richard Sherman was challenged to break the Seahawks single season inception record. We have no idea what that means, but it sounds hard. Professional Toronto Raptors basketball player, DeMar DeRozen, was challenged to rekindle a lost friendship from his youth in Compton. 100, 200 and 400 meter American Track and Field Sprinter and Olympic Champion, Allyson Felix, was challenged to coach the sprinters for the approaching Special Olympics and finally Kobe challenged NBA player Isaiah Thomas to make the All-NBA First Team next season.
