Babcock University: 89 Students Graduated with First Class

A 22 - year - old Student of the Accounting Department of Babcock University , Ilishan- Remo, Ogun State , Alexandria Braie, has emerged the best graduating student of the university.

Braie was declared the winner of the President ’ s Award for the overall best performances despite having the second best Cumulative Grade Point Average 4 . 90 of her set.

Speaking at the fifteenth convocation and sixth postgraduate convocation ceremony of the university on Sunday , the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ademola Tayo , said Braie emerged the best graduating student as a result of her outstanding performances in academics , leadership traits as well as community and spiritual services .

A total number of 2 , 113 students comprising of 1 , 807 undergraduate students and 306 postgraduate students convoked during the event .

He charged the graduating students to be positive thinkers and imagine their future , saying that “ what you constantly think about yourself is what you become . ”
He added , “ You have a responsibility to Nigeria and the world . Set aside your iphones and ipods and concentrate on the challenges of the society . Be a volunteer in your community . Dedicate yourself to the transformation of the society . Seek to serve rather than be served so that through you , God can increase . ”

Also speaking at the event , the Ogun State Governor , Ibikunle Amosun , commended the university for its strides in the education and health sectors . He added that the state government would work to create the right ambience needed for the education sector to thrive .

“ These children will define our future and we will adequately equip our youths . I urge you to be self -reliant and steadfast . Academic qualifications are not all that you need to succeed in life . Morals and character matter . Be ready to make positive difference because one day , we are going to answer the call of God .”

In his address, the Executive Secretary , National Universities Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed , said the successful conduct of heart surgeries in the school shows that “ our university system is highly standardised and can compete favourably across the world . ’’

Rasheed , who was represented by the Director of Corporate Services , Mrs . Constance Goddy -Nnadi , also called on the alumni body to be at the forefront of forging partnerships for the school ,
