PV Sindhu brings the bronze medal for India maintaining a consecutive success in Olympic games. The Indians would be really proud of her performance.
The way she won the match has fulfilled a long-cherished dream. She won the bronze medal by defeating China’s He Bing Xiao 21-13, 21-15. The fight was not as easy as it seemed. Because China’s He Bing Xiao is known as a talented player in the circuit. He wanted to make the opponent tired by playing on the court. However, in the first set, Xiao did not cope-up with the speed of the Indian shuttler.
At the beginning of the game, Sindhu looked quite focused. Sindhu’s spectacular drop shots fascinated our eyes. Even in netplay and forehand shots, she has won more points than his opponents. She has made her Chinese competitor run in different directions and reaped benefits.
Xiao has advanced so far in the meeting of the two, as Xiao has won nine times and Sindhu seven times in a total of 16 meetings. The Hyderabadi girl gave her best performance.
Sindhu came to the court after correcting the mistakes she had made in the last match against Xiao. However, in the first game, Sindhu went ahead and put pressure on the opponent. Her smashes landed terribly on the opponent’s court.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the ace shuttler on her win tweeting, “She is India’s pride and one of our most outstanding Olympians.”
President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, “PV Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to win medals in two Olympic games. She has set a new yardstick of consistency, dedication, and excellence. My heartiest congratulations to her for bringing glory to India.”
PV Sindhu was the only Indian shuttler who qualified after the failure of B Sai Praneeth (Men’s Singles player) and Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy (Men’s doubles player).
Sindhu’s Korean coach repeatedly asked him to maintain a cool temperament in the match. The Korean coach knew that his student would bring out the real game as long as she was cool.
