This part of the semester can sometimes feel a little rough. Our workloads are picking up and exams are just around the corner. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve already hit that slump where I’m ready to be free from homework, classes, and school. Summer is so close, yet so far away!
Even though I love College and all of the experiences that come with it, sometimes it leaves me feeling a little overwhelmed. So whenever I’m in need of a boost of confidence or a little pick-me-up, I like to revisit the happiness of being a kid and turn to Disney for some wise words.
Here are some of my favorite Disney quotes that keep me pulling through the semester. Maybe you’ll find a little magic in them too!
“Even miracles take a little time “ – Fairy Godmother, Cinderella
Let’s face it. College can be a struggle. We’re faced with huge life decisions like agonizing over what to major in or whether or not we want to continue on to grad school. But it’s important to remember that everyone makes decisions at their own pace. Some of us work faster, and some of use need a little extra time to figure things out! If you find yourself in this second group, don’t worry. Just remember that the best things in life can take a little longer to get, and they’re always worth waiting for.
“Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one” – Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas
College isn’t always the easiest experience to adjust to. And as College Students, we all face difficult decisions and frustrating situations. We feel completely lost and end up changing our major three or four times, we lose track of friends who ended up at different schools, or we find it difficult learning to live with new roommates. Many of us know how hard it is to walk away from something that can change your life completely. But in those difficult times of extra stress in school or other problems, it’s important to remember why we’ve chosen the path we’re on and to just keep going.
“Always let your conscience be your guide” – Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio
We all go through tremendous changes in college. It’s a time full of new experiences we’ve never faced before. We find ourselves in situations that test our values and challenge us to confront who we are and who we really want to be. In all of these cases, it’s important to always listen to your conscience, no matter what! Always, always, always follow that gut feeling you have because 99% of the time, it’s right.
“The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work” – Tiana, The Princess and the Frog
There’s a lot to juggle in college. And sometimes, when we’re overloaded with assignments, behind on writing papers, and just plain old tired of studying for exams, it’s easy to want to give up. But it’s important to remember that all of those midterm exams, homework, and quizzes are there for a reason. And all of those extra hours you are putting in to keep up with school and work will pay off in the long run. You will get that extra couple hundred bucks in your next paycheck, you will get that good grade on your upcoming exam, and it will all pay off in the end. All it takes is a little self discipline!
“Don’t just fly, soar!” -Dumbo
College is a completely unique experience, and you will never have another time like it in your life again. It’s a period full of so many great opportunities that will lead you onto exciting new adventures you never thought possible. But it’s important to remember to buckle down and stay motivated and focused. You have the wings to go places, you might as well put them to use. Use the tools that you have to accomplish great things, because if you’re going to do something, you might as well make it worth your time by doing your best.
