The Oriental Knot is also called the Small or Kent Knot. It is best suited for Ties with thicker Fabric or the heavy type than the light type. It suits Taller Men more than shorter Men. It matches spread shirts with narrow collars.

Just like the Pratt Knot, you should start with the Tie being held inside out. If you don’t turn it upside down before starting, you will end up with the back of the Tie instead of the front side.

With the Tie in your hands, move to your Mirror. Stand next to a standing mirror and do the following

  • Place the Tie around your neck. Make sure the the Tie is held upside down. The wider end of the Tie should be next to your left shoulder. The length of the wider end should hang out more longer than the small end.

  • Move the wider end below the small Tie end to your right shoulder.

  • Cross the wide end over in front of the small end back to your left shoulder

  • Bring up the wide end of the Tie through the loop you formed around your neck. Ensure not to pull it up too tight. This will create a loose loop in front of the Tie.

  • Put the wide end Through the loop in front of the Tie

  • Pull down to tighten. Gently press the side of the knot as you tighten it to create dimples at both sides.

You can now take a good look at the nice job you did in the mirror in front of you. The only thing that you may not like about this Tie is that the knot is not easily untangled.
