Public transport fares rise by 10%

Public transport Fares have been revised and increased by 10% as per Ghana Private Road Transport Union information. GPRTU said that new fare policy will take effect from 16 September.

Chairman of GPRTU, Kwame Kuma revealed that an increase in fuel prices lead to the decision to raise the fares while various components of commercial transport will also go up. Meanwhile, the Union has requested an increase in the fares as spare parts prices have also risen.

The transporters will receive the revised fares from commuters traveling intra-city, intercity and shared taxis. Mr. Kuma has directed the Union members to follow the new fares and post the new list at specific places to inform the traveling public.  The last time, fares were increased in January 2018.
