Apple unveiled that its iPhone 8 smartphones carry a fault and that it has already begun a repair program, fixing them free of cost.
Only yesterday, Apple has declared that a little percentage of iPhone 8 smartphones have been sold with logic boards having a manufacturing defect that cause restarting the device unexpectedly, freezing the screen, or even causing it to not turn on.
Confessing to have the fault, Apple has declared that it will fix the eligible defected devices free of cost, simply by replacing its logic board. Users are able to check whether they possess the affected phone by simply putting the phone’s serial number into a web form at Apple’s website.
Apple has declared that the affected units have been sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, Japan, China, New Zealand, Hong Kong, India, Macau and the U.S.
Though, the free repair offer is here having some conditions. In case the phone’s screen is cracked or any other sort of damage is there, the user is going to have to get that repaired first. In case the user opts for Apple to repair it themselves, it is going to charge them for that repair, even further than the free logic board replacement.
So as to fix the phone, the user is either supposed to carry the device to any authorized Apple retail store, an Apple retail centre, or mail it in. Anyway, Apple stated that the phone is going to be mailed away to one of its major repair facilities to get it fixed.
Moreover, Apple clarified that the phone is going to be checked before any service in order to authenticate that it is suitable for the program. Plus, the program is not affecting iPhone 8 Plus or any of the other iPhone models. Apple has also assured that the users are to backup their iPhone to iTunes or iCloud.
