On Tuesday morning, three first-year students of Kumasi Academy Senior High School (KUMACA) have died bringing the death toll recorded in the school to six within a week.
The deceased whose names are yet to be made public were suffering from what is believed to be Cerebrospinal meningitis, which is inflammation of the meninges of both brain and spinal cord; specifically : an infectious often epidemic and fatal meningitis caused by the meningococcus.
Kasapafmonline.com sources in the school say 24 students are currently on admission at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
In total, the number of deaths recorded in the school this year (2017) has hit 13, while seven students were died around April.
School authorities have remained quiet over the incident, as blood samples of the affected students have been reportedly sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute in Accra for examination.
