OPPO just now filed a patent for a Foldable Smartphone, becoming the third ever manufacturer having such sort of plans. It joins Samsung and ZTE in the race to create latest innovative smartphone designs.
Not like the other two manufacturers, the Foldable design of OPPO just targets on the top third of the phone. It really makes us remember the OPPO N1 and N1 Mini; if you recall, the N1 and N1 Mini make use of a rotating camera on top that is used for both selfies and photos. The same thing can be believed about the OPPO patent also.
As stated in the patent filing, the upper half of the screen will be so much flexible that it can fold onto itself. Some kind of pivot will help in the folding mechanism here. It is supposed that the entire screen will be touch-enabled, so there could possibly an interesting UI change present when the phone is folded back.
But obviously, filing the patent is only the first step – most patents do not finally get turned into a reality. That stated it will certainly be captivating to check out which company will really join ZTE into actually presenting their take on a foldable smartphone.
