The Bolgatanga District Court, chaired by Osman Abdul-Hakeem, has remanded another arrangement of five people in Prison, for undermining and attacking three old Ladies they suspected to be witches, at Gare, in the Talensi area in the Upper East Region.
The Court likewise conceded a Bench Warrant to the Police for the capture of one Tarebon who is on the run.
Their remand comes only two days after somewhere in the range of five suspects were remanded in Police authority regarding the lynching of an old lady, in the same Talensi area.
On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Police in Bolgatanga brought five people, including a 29-year-old Evangelist, Akwesi Ali Baba, under the steady gaze of the Bolgatanga Court over a charged witchcraft allegation. They are to return to Court on June 30, 2017.
Exhibiting the certainties in Court, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Gilbert Boaten Addae said the four different suspects, Doug Sapak, Mba Gudabe, Missah Samlate, Malupaaya Mbanyia are agriculturists.
The Evangelist has been accused of distribution of false news expected to make dread and caution the general population. The others were accused of risk of death, unlawful section and causing unlawful harm.
On June 6, 2017, at around 6:00 am, the 29-year-old Evangelist blamed the three old ladies for being witches and in view of that, the other denounced people and others, driven by one Tarebon, who is on the run, sorted out and assaulted the three ladies and debilitated to slaughter them.
The old ladies oversaw and rushed to the Palace of the Gare Chief, to report the allegations leveled against them.
The denounced figured out how to whisk the ladies from the Chief”s castle to meet a “Witch Doctor” at Yeliwongo, a fringes town between the Bongo locale in the Upper East and the Republic of Burkina-Faso. While there, the ladies were subjected to a trail experience on account of the “Witch Doctor” for three days.
On June 9, 2017, the charged took the ladies back to Gare and told the Chief that the ladies have been affirmed to be witches by their “witch Doctor” at Yeliwongo and that, they were sending the ladies to Gambaga for another trail.
The Chief rejected them their craving and requesting that they discharge the ladies, which incited them (charged), who undermined to murder the ladies, and hence, the Chief chosen to keep the ladies in his Palace.
The blamed went to the spaces for the ladies looking for a pot the Evangelist had revealed to them they had been entranced them with.
A concerned inhabitant who know about the episode, revealed the case to the Police. Police continued to the scene, yet the denounced people flee on observing the Police, however, were later captured later.
On June 15 the Evangelist was likewise captured at Pelungu upon a tip off. He showed up in Court with a swollen eye, which he may have had from the general population who caught him before the Police touched base at the scene.
