The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has serious concerns for the environment of Ghana, The President has recently stated that it is a cautionary situation that Ghana’s dense forests have been depleted to the extent that the country needs to import timber.
He also stated that the country’s rivers & lakes are also disappearing & those that have managed to survive are immensely polluted.
The president stated these facts while speaking at the 60th anniversary parade, which was attended by numerous local & foreign dignitaries including Presidents of Zimbabwe & Togo.
President Akufo-Addo stated, there is nothing better we can do to honor those who sacrificed their lives to free us, than to dedicate this 60th independence anniversary to safeguard our environment & regenerating the lands & water resources.
Requesting all to make themselves worthy deservers of the land, the president said, I know that everyone feels pride to be a Ghanaian whether living in Ghana or not. Let us all also work for the country to make a prosperous and happy Ghana of tomorrow, in which every Ghanaian, including our youth, our women & the less fortunate in our society, will have equal doorways to opportunities to realise their potential, & lead better lives.
Only Then, our independence will be of any meaning. Then, we will have a Ghana beyond aid, something we can owe all on our own.
